Clean/Safe
CLEAN AND SAFE PROGRAM
As part of our role around creating a vibrant business district, Vanguard will provide the following implementation strategies to help stabilize core areas within the North End Main Street Business District. The following programs will be a priority area for Vanguard’s Clean and Safe program area:
- North End Safety Patrol
- Safety Education Workshops
- Code Education
- Clean Neighborhoods program along arteries and residential gateways
Specifically, Vanguard will provide training and monetary stipends to a minimum of 4 Detroit residents to serve as the “Clean Team” between May and October 2021. The program objectives are as follows:
- Improved neighborhood aesthetics by removing litter and debris, graffiti and signs (not public art)
- Cleaning of commercial corridor, including E. Grand Blvd., North End gateway entrances and Woodward Ave. (between Baltimore and Bethune)
- Increase knowledge of city property maintenance code and safety measures thorough a series of community safety workshops
- Maintenance of boulevards, medians and landscaped areas
- Increased community engagement and volunteerism
- Distribute ‘Clean Neighborhoods’ literature throughout neighborhoods
- Print and distribute (semi-annually) newsletters to 300 community stakeholders
The outcomes of this initiative will be measured by data collected during surveys and program evaluation forms.
